How is it that if you go through debt counseling, your credit is cleaned up at the end?

They do that? I don’t think so.

They may help you reduce your debt and put you on a way to better handle your finances but they can’t persuade a credit bureau to give you a good score.

Your credit score will slowly recuperate because you are reducing your debt load and are making all payments in a timely manner.

Nothing a debt counseling firm does has a direct influence on your credit score unless you follow their advise and pay down your credit cards and don’t run up any more debt.

Debt counseling is a process where someone provides you with advice either free or for a fee — there is no guarantee that your credit will be “cleaned up” as a result.

A person can absolutely do this on their own (repair their credit, that is). In fact, it is relatively inexpensive it just takes some time and diligence on your part. Naturally, the amount of effort and time will vary based on how bad your credit is, but there are free sources to assist you. Here is an EXCELLENT website that you should check out to find out all you need to know to do this on your own, and a link to a page which provides step by step instructions on doing this on your own for free:

Take a look around the website for a ton of other information regarding this subject, it honestly is the best source for credit repair information available today!

    Good luck!

A non profit credit counselor can negotiate lower interest and payments from keeping you from further damaging your credit, but they cannot remove accurate negative info from your credit file. Completing a CCCS program will not remove charge-offs or late pays if you have those.

Consumer Credit Counseling is an alternative for consumers experiencing financial difficulties and unable to make their minimum payments. Consumer Credit Counseling organizations act as an intermediary between you and your creditors.

Credit counseling does not include any type of credit repairing. Anyway your score should also go up in the long run because most of these programs teach you fiscal tips that will help you develop healthy money management habits. You will hopefully learn to consistently make on-time payments as well as keep your credit balances down to a manageable level. All of this will push your credit score upward over time.
